Description

Customer has reported kernel panics under heavy load when ath0 master mode VAP is bridged eth0. Happens with or without WPA enabled. I have not been able to reproduce this personally however I have sent him configs and he has reported back with the kernel oops messages.

I have opened a ticket in Madwifi since best I can tell this is a madwifi-ng bug.

I will wait to hear back from them and see if the bug is already known and if there are patches available, or if they believe the bug to be caused by something else.

I am able to reproduce this bug using an Intel wifi card on a windows client while doing three simultaneous http transfers off a local server of about 700 megs a piece. It took about 10-15 minutes.

Updated. It appears that changing the IO scheduler used in the kernel fixes this problem. I am adding this into b5 and having people test it.

This was fixed in the b5 release. Changing the kernel scheduler to premptive eliminates the problem.
